Climbing coaching questions &
objections

Most people hesitate before investing in coaching. That's normal. Here are the honest answers to the sticking points I hear most often.

V3–V5 — Learn to perform

This is where climbers often start hitting their first real plateau. Technique alone isn't enough, but strength alone isn't enough either. Better body tension, finger strength, power, intentional footwork, commitment, and understanding why a move works become important. Progress comes from identifying what's actually holding you back instead of simply climbing harder or training more.

Private coaching compresses years of trial and error into focused, intentional work. You're not paying for time on the wall — you're paying for a personalized roadmap, expert feedback, and accountability from someone who has set and coached at the highest levels of the sport.

Competition tactics, A to Z

Preparedness from season to finals

Competitive and youth athletes train the whole event, not just the climbing. Every phase below is coached, rehearsed, and reviewed on video.

Season & block planning

  • Back-planning from regionals, divisionals, and nationals
  • Style-specific blocks: coordination, slab, power, endurance
  • Taper weeks and peaking for the event that matters

Event week

  • Travel, sleep, and schedule management
  • Nutrition and hydration leading into the round
  • Warm-up protocol that works in a crowded isolation zone

In the round

  • Observation and route reading under the clock
  • Attempt budgeting, resets, and knowing when to burn a go
  • Mid-attempt plan changes and reading the scoreboard

Between rounds & after

  • Recovery, refueling, and managing iso downtime and nerves
  • Finals routine and pressure management
  • Structured video debrief that feeds the next training block

Real results, real credibility

Coaching is an investment — here's what stands behind it.

Two grades harder — guaranteed

V0–V5 climbers on the program are backed by the Two V-Grade Guarantee: follow the plan, and if you don't climb two grades harder, coaching continues until you do.
